Coaches Corner

Hi, my name is Matt Brado and I am the new Head Coach this summer at HP. I have coached in multiple capacities for both the NVSL and CSL for many years and different teams. I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from these past coaching ventures. I am also a professional coach, level 3 certified with NCAP Alexandria and have served as an age group coach for 8 years now.

As a swimmer, I am a product of the NVSL and the former Curl Burke swim club. I was a national champion, all-American at the University of Georgia and a former member of the USA national team. I also have medaled at these meets, US nationals, Olympic trials, and international competition. I believe that my experiences as a world-class athlete sheds light on what hard work, perseverance, determination, motivation, and self-confidence can achieve.

Currently, this segways into my career, day job, as a special education behavioral teacher at a special needs center in Fairfax, VA. I have utilized skills gained from swimming and coaching to help these kids through their daily challenges, both behaviorally and academically.

I have worked with a wide range of kids through both these facets and am confident that I can get all the swimmers where they want to go with their goals at Highland Park Pool this summer!

While every effort should be made to make as many practices as you can, the coaches understand that there are a lot of conflicts at this time of year until school lets out.  The swim season is short, so it is important that swimmers are in the water as much as possible. If it is too cold or rainy for the outdoor practices, bring sneakers, towels and comfortable clothing so you can participate in dry-land training
