Swimmer Requirements
Want To Join Swim Team?
- The coaching staff will evaluate NEW swimmers interested in swim team.
- Swimmers must be comfortable in the water, able to tread water, and must be able to swim the length of the pool (25m) unassisted in a recognizable stroke in order to compete on swim team.
- The swim team is not a swim lesson program.
- Placement on the Hurricane Swim Team is at the discretion of the coaches.
Your swimmer will be placed on the Hurricane Swim Team, the Tropical Storm Team (our developmental program), or recommended for swim lessons. Coaches want to ensure that your swimmer is in a program where they will be the most successful.
HP Swim Team Eligibility
- Must be members in good standing of Highland Park Pool.
- Between the ages of 5-18 years old, as of June 1st.
- Paid registration fees.
- Signed swim team registration form and code of conduct form.
Swimmer Availability
Family Vacation Plans
Let the coaches and team Reps. know if your summer vacation plans will conflict with any Saturday ‘A’ Meets at the beginning of the season. Please fill out a swimmer availability form so the coaches and the team reps can schedule who is swimming based on a swimmer’s availability.
Scheduling Conflicts
During the season, if parent or child cannot meet a swim or volunteer commitment, please let the coach and/or Team Rep know as soon as possible so a replacement can be identified!
Swim Apparel
- Team Suit is recommended, but any racing suit will do. Having the team suit contributes to team spirit. Tech Suits must be discussed with Coaches.
- Goggles are also recommended but not required.
- Swim caps are available for purchase from the spirit wear coordinator or team reps and are recommended for girls and boys especially with longer hair.
- Fins – closed heel fins are strongly recommended.
