TS Swimmers and Buddy Coaches
The Tropical Storm Team is Highland Park's developmental program to help transition swimmers, over time, from swim lessons to becoming a full force HURRICANE!
Tropical Storm practices 5 days a week and includes a Lollipop Race before the last home B-Meet of the season which will be on July 13th.
Tropical Storm practices for the 2026 season are from 7:45-8:15 a.m. and will start June 18th and ends July 17th.
This program is geared to kids, ages 5-8, who:
- Are comfortable in the water
- Can swim at least one stroke
- Can tread water.
Tropical Storm swimmers work with our coaches to learn:
- In-depth stroke work on freestyle & backstroke
- Build Endurance
- Starts and finishes
- Streamline positions
- Swimming terms & more!

Tropical Storm Buddy Coaches
Buddy Coaches support the Tropical Storm Developmental swim program and are swimmers (ages 12 and up) who are interested in learning more about coaching and helping to develop young swimmers. No prior experience is needed, just an eagerness to learn and help! You will be getting in the water and safety precautions will be followed.
If your child is interested in helping with Tropical Storm, please fill out this form by May 31st and we will determine if they are a good fit for this program.
Buddy Coaches can use these volunteer hours toward their school volunteer hour requirements.
