Coach Ryan is from Springfield and began swimming at the age of 5 for Ravensworth Farm Swim and Racquet Club. Ryan swam for the Potomac Marlins from 2011–2014 and with the Mason Makos from 2007–2010. He also swam four years at Lake Braddock Secondary School, serving as team captain his senior year, he finished his swimming career on the club team at Coastal Carolina University.
Ryan has been coaching swimming since 2011 at Ravensworth Farm (NVSL), starting as a junior deck coach and eventually serving as assistant head coach 2014 & 2015. He has been working with the Potomac Marlins (Potomac Valley Swimming) for the past 5 years as the primary coach at Franconia Rec Center and is now coaching and working full-time with the team. Ryan served as our assistant head coach in 2024 and is excited to start his second season as the Hurricanes' head coach!
Izzy is from Alexandria, Virginia, and began swimming at the age of seven with the Mansion House Piranhas. She competed in club swimming with FBST from 2013 to 2020 and later with the Potomac Marlins from 2021 to 2024. In addition, she was a dedicated member of the St. John’s high school swim team for four years, serving as team captain in her senior year. Her coaching experience began with the Mansion House Piranhas, where she started as a junior coach and worked her way up to Assistant Head Coach. Currently, Izzy is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina and swims for the university’s club team. She is thrilled to join the Hurricanes and looks forward to the season ahead!
Mallory is from Alexandria, Virginia and began swimming at age seven with the Highland Park Hurricanes and has stayed there ever since. She fell in love with the sport and joined the Potomac Marlins the next season to begin swimming and competing year round. She has worked as a buddy coach for the hurricanes and has begun coaching with the Potomac Marlins this past year. She has been a dedicated member of the Alexandria City High School Swim Team for the past three years, starting when she was in 8th grade. Mallory is looking forward to her first year as a junior coach with the Highland Park Hurricanes. She loves working with all people and including everyone in team cheers and activities. She looks forward to carrying on team traditions and working with all members of the team!
Emily has lived in Alexandria her entire life and began swimming with the Highland Park Hurricanes at age seven. She swims year-round with Trident Swim Club and has competed for the Bishop Ireton High School swim team for the past two years, where this season she swam the 4x100 freestyle relay at the VISAA state championships. Emily has served as a Tropical Storm buddy coach for the past three summers and is excited to step into a coaching role with the Hurricanes this year. She loves working with the younger swimmers and brings a caring, supportive demeanor to the pool deck. She has been recognized for this dedication and love of swimming, but her favorite award is the “Team Mom” paper plate she got last summer. Emily prides herself on keeping practices fun while still helping swimmers stay focused, and her dedication and attention to detail will serve her well as she helps the next generation of Hurricanes grow in and out of the water.
Lilly is from Alexandria, Virginia and began swimming at the age of six for the Highland Park hurricanes. Lilly has been swimming with the Marlins since 2022 and has been on the Alexandria City High School swim team since 2022. Lilly not only swims but is also on the Highland Park dive team and plays softball for the Alexandria City High School varsity team. She loves to swim and is excited to take on the role of swim coach and help athletes develop skills and confidence in and out of the pool
Tobias is from Alexandria and began swimming at the age of five on the tropical storm swim team for the Highland Park Hurricanes. The following year he joined the main team, and has swam with them since for the past 11 years. He joined N-CAP for one year before switching to the Potomac Marlins and has swam year round swim with them since he was eight. In high school he has competed as a part of the Alexandria City High school team for the past two years. He has also teaches swim lessons for all ages at his local YMCA and has for the past year and a half. He has buddy coached for multiple years for Highland Park and is starting his first season being a junior coach this year. He is looking forward to coaching and helping the team grow.
Robert was born in Colorado and currently lives in Alexandria, VA. He will be entering his junior year at Thomas Edison High School. He has swam with Highland Park for the past three years and with the Marlins for the last two. Robert also swims for his high school team. Last year, he served as a buddy coach and loved helping younger swimmers build confidence. This is his first season as a junior coach, and he is excited to help keep team morale high, lead cheers, and participate in the pep rallies.
Quinn is from Alexandria and is so excited to be returning for another summer of coaching! She is a rising senior at Hayfield Secondary School and has been swimming competitively for 11 years. She swims year-round with the Potomac Marlins and has competed for Hayfield Secondary School for the past 3 years, and was a captain of the team this past season. Quinn began swimming at age 2 and has loved the sport ever since. She also has coaching experience from two years with Tropical Storm. She can’t wait to continue being involved with the team and help make this summer a great season! She enjoys helping create a fun and welcoming environment for every swimmer and loves getting everyone involved in team cheers and activities. Quinn is excited to continue team traditions and make this summer memorable for the whole team!
Bridget is from Alexandria, Virginia and has been swimming competitively for 9 years. She began swimming with the Potomac Marlins at age 7 and joined the Highland Park swim team later that year. She has been a member of the Alexandria City High School swim team since her freshman year. Bridget loves spending her summers at Highland Park and has volunteered as a buddy coach for Tropical Storm for the past 4 years. She is so excited for her first year of junior coaching! She looks forward building team spirit through Highland Park’s team cheers and traditions. She hopes all the swimmers on the team learn, grow, and have a fun summer!
